What do I do about excessive coarse facial hair? HELP!!?

I am a 23 yr old woman, and I have been dealing with excessive facial hair for several years now. I have tried everything: Waxing does not remove the hair, just my skin. The chemical depilatories (Nair,Sally Hansen) don't remove all the hair and they burn my skin, causing big red spots everywhere. I tried shaving with an electric and blade razor, but it just made more hair grow, and it grew back too quickly. So I have to pluck these dark, coarse hairs (sideburns, chin, and neck) everyday, which causes ingrown hairs. I don't have the money for laser hair removal, which would probably be the best solution. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with me, and what can I do?

If I were you, I would make sure your doctor checks your thyroid level to make sure you don't have an underactive thyroid. Excessive facial hair is one of the symptoms of a thyroid disorder.

I don't have excessive hair, but I am not able to wax because my skin is so sensitive. I splurged on laser treatments (from my dermatologist) several years ago, and that sure resolved my problem. An expensive, but permanent solution.

Some birth control pills can slow hair growth. Since going on Yasmin I have had much less facial hair and only have to do removal techniques every few months.
